a sweet love story

From the back cover.... The last thing he remembered was pumping the pedals of his bike, moving up a steep mountain road, when the shoulder gave way. Suddenly he was falling, tumbling into a world of blessed quiet and darkness. When Harrison Hixon regained consciousness, he found himself in a stranger's home, his leg aching. Sara Peters usually enjoyed opening her home to the needy. Over the years her farm had provided shelter to orphaned children and wayward teenagers. She had no choice but to help the grouchy Harrison Hixon, but she wasn't about to put up with his attitude. If this handsome city slicker stayed on her mountain, he was going to get a taste of Sara's brand of magic- a mixture of country charm, manners and sheer will.... Harrison Hixon, a New York lawyer, was on a sabbatical riding through the mountains. Hurt in the bicycle accident, he is saved by Sara and her "family". Ill-tempered and ungrateful at the beginning, he realizes he has to stay in her home until his leg is mended. Well-intentioned Sara soon learns that her guest is becoming more unwelcome as the days pass by. 'Sara's Family' is a tender contemporary romance that leaves the reader feeling optimistic. The story line is entertaining with the secondary characters adding an authentic feel to mountain life. Harrison, stodgy and rude at the beginning became 'Harry', accepting and willing to help others. He opened up to the children and befriended the mountainfolk. Sara started to grow feelings for him but worried that they could never have a permanent relationship because his life revolved around a career in New York and her life belonged in North Carolina. You'll have to read the book to see the evolution of their love and how they solve their problems. The story is heart-warming; read it on a day when you need something to uplift your spirit. Written in 1992, it is not dated. I am adding this to my book shelf of keepers.
