I followed my grandpa's dream-for one of our grandkids-before he died. This book is about him.

I always wanted to go to college to be a doctor for the military. My best friends served in the military, and I always wanted to be a doctor to take care of military personnel who are hurt.

Grandpa John is a book about how he wanted me to be a children's writer because kids need better books to read. He wanted any of his grandkids to do it, but he didn't want to make them comfortable. He wanted more than one children's writer in the family.

I was the only one he asked. I didn't have the guts to tell my cousins-and I never will either.

He had dreams for every grandkid but never told them because he liked to say, "Follow your dreams."

I'm following Grandpa's dream. If he had his way, a lot of his grandkids would be writers and doctors too.
