Claire, a commercial artist, and Sarah, a lawyer and poet, have spent years carefully navigating their relationship in London, maintaining a cautious public distance. When they decide to visit Eresos, a small Greek village on Lesbos known for its connection to the ancient poet Sappho, everything changes. The village, with its welcoming community led by Sophia and Elena, offers them a glimpse of a different way of living. Claire rediscovers her artistic passion, creating bold, honest paintings that capture the essence of their experience. Sarah begins writing poetry that speaks directly and courageously about love, abandoning the careful metaphors she's used to hide her true feelings.
As they prepare to return to London, they make a crucial decision: to carry the courage and openness they've found in Eresos back into their everyday lives. They commit to living more authentically - in their art, their professional lives, and their relationship with family and friends.
Upon returning to London, they begin to transform their environment. Claire starts exhibiting more honest artwork, while Sarah becomes more open about their relationship at work. They create their own sanctuary, hosting gatherings and supporting other LGBTQ+ individuals, inspired by the community they experienced in Eresos.
