Sapphire: New Horizons

This book beats Phantom Stallion, and it is a little better than Heartland. Emily is annoying only when she is a brat (i.e., when she breaks rules and knows she shouldn't, doesn't put Sapphire on cross-ties, etc.) and the characters are OK. Like someone else said, they didn't have to be cold to Emily just because she did dressage, and she had to get used to the hunter saddle in her first lesson. But I liked it over all, and I am beginning Horses of Half Moon Ranch, and so far they seem better than Running Horse Ridge, Heartland, and Phantom Stallion!

This book is great!

This book is about a girl named Emily Summers. Emily and her dad go to Oregon for a while. Emily did NOT want to go to Oregon. She missed her perfect dressage horse Rhapsody untill Emily and her dad stopped the car at a place called Running Horse Ridge. This was where her dad's sister worked. She owned the horse farm. Emily had no friends here and felt homesick. After all, she was way far from home. She lives in New Jersey and is in Oregon. But she soon finds a friend. Sapphire. Sapphire is working on trying not to push people down. But Emily adores him anyway. She later finds tons of horses uncared for. Her aunt Debby takes them to the barn but that's when the sadness started. Emily found out her dad sold Rhapsody! Emliy was VERY mad. Her dad sold Rhapsody for all those horses that had been rescued. Almost thirty two horses that was! If you happen to purchase this book, you will not be unhappy!

Running Horse Ridge

Emily Summers and he father are visiting Oregon for the funeral of Emily's Grandfather who she has never met. They will be staying with her aunt who she has also never met. What's worse is she's missing a big horse show back home in New Jersey and she is worried about the horse that she leases named Rhapsody. She's scared that her barn rival will get to ride Rhapsody and that his owner (who has been hinting that she'd like to sell the horse soon ) will hand over the horse to Emily's rival if her dad doesnt make an offer soon. When Emily get's to Running Horse Ridge, her aunts horse rescue, she isnt impressed by the slightly run down farm that her dad has been avoiding ever since his wife died. And her relatives arent impressed with her dressage riding since they only do hunter/jumper at the farm. Emily feels that the only people who accept her are her seven year old cousin and a beautiful, and misbehaved, horse named Sapphire. Emily tries to be good but everytime she turns around she's breaking the rules or making a mistake. Will Emily ever find a way to fit in? And will she ever convince her aunt that she is responsible enough to work with Sapphire? I thought it was a good book and I'm looking forward to the rest of the series. However, I think Emily is a bit of a brat at times (but that's just my opinion) and everyone treats her like a beginner just because she's never jumped before. There are plenty of great and experienced riders who don't. And, Emily encourages bad behavior in Sapphire. He knocks her down (on perpous) and she just laughs...sooo annoying!
