A classic!

This 1967 book by Jerome Frank is the first that I am aware of which shed light on the very dangerous phenomenon of "projecting one's dark side on an enemy." Whether this is done at a personal level or nationally, it is highly counter-productive. And, in the nuclear age, as Frank notes, it is downright dangerous and ultimately suicidal. Frank was a pioneer in this field and well worth reading. I read the book during the 1980's when the intensified Cold War thankfully brought renewed attention back to the subject (e.g., "Images of the Enemy: Reporting the New Cold War" by Brian McNair). But the subject is age-old and just as applicable today. Highly recommended!
