A Fantastic Fantasy

I read Sands of the Desert on the recommendation of a friend, and because my curiosity was piqued upon hearing that the author was only sixteen years old. Though I was skeptical at first, after reading the first couple pages I found myself immersed in a world that was brilliantly crafted and beautifully executed, and I simply could not put it down! Though Chudwin is young, she has a keen sensitivity to language and tone, and she uses them to paint a fantastic world full of heroes and villains. I felt the need to post after I read the remarks posted by the last reviewer. It does not even sound like this person has read the novel, and they have resorted to ad hominem attacks. If they had truly read Sands of the Desert, they would have recognized that, while Chudwin uses familiar themes and archetypes from the fantasy genre, she has constructed a piece that succeeds on many levels. Aside from being an entertaining yarn, Sands of the Desert goes deeper, and to a skilled reader it can be interpreted on an allegorical level. Serepta's journey is not just her own, but all of ours. And while many fantasy writers have flat, one dimensional villains, the character Desmond is one I found I both loathed and pitied at the same time, and found myself "loving to hate" him! Sands of the Desert is by far worth reading, if anything because it signals the arrival of a young author who is sure to be a literary force in her next works to come. I await them with anticipation.

Sands of the Desert is amazing!

Sands of the Desert is a great book with amazing details and imagery. The characters had a richness of dimension and development that I really enjoyed, and the skillful alternating of subplots kept the pace moving at an engaging speed. Each character had their own spiritual and physical journey to complete. The vivid details also made the book very fun to read! Everything was described in a thorough way. Sands of the Desert is a beautifully written book, and I would highly recommend it.

Amazing novel

i couldn't put the book down and it fufilled all my expectations and what i wanted to read. If you are in for an adventure then this is a great book to read. The desciption is amazing making you feel like you are actually there. It is easy to relate to Serepta because she craves everything everyone wants at times, a good adventure and a longing to change and start over. It has great romance that comes out in the end and Desmond the evil prince is a great and interesting character.

An Adventure For Readers

Sands of the Desert is a magical novel that is filled with enough suspense and emotion to make any reader's pulse quicken. The relateable characters, enchanted setting, and exciting plot combine to form a story that is worth reading again and again. Chudwin developes her story through her strong command of language and her creativity. The novel is enhanced by added songs, creatures, and surprising obstacles. I would reccomend this story to anyone who has an imagination and a dream worth fighting for.

A Lovely Desert Fantasy

Sands of the Desert is a great read! Chudwin has meticulously woven together all the elements of a well-written fantasy novel: adventure, romance, mystery and more. The text has a lovely lilting poetic flow that adds to the ambiance of the story in a land far away. I read the book in two sittings, and enjoyed every minute of it. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the author is 16 years old. With this work as her first novel, I foresee a long, successful writing career! I am eager for the next book. Highly recommended.
