Excellent Resource

This book is an excellent resource for anyone wanting to visit ghost sites in the San Diego region. My girlfriend and I had a wonderful day touring around Old Town, reading the chapters in the book and then looking over the sites detailed within. It added a new element to each site. We especially enjoyed looking around El Campo Santo Cemetery. The book contains a variety of historical information as well, which further added to our use of it as a tour guide. Additionally the author comes up with new theories and questions some of the haunted sites discussed within the book (something skeptics will thouroughly enjoy). Some of the sites detailed in it include: - The Whaley House - Dolly, the dog of the Whaley House - El Campo Santo Cemetery - Star of India (also mentions the Berkeley) - Hotel Del Coronado - Casa de Bandini - Robinson Rose House - Casa De Estudillo - El Fandango Restaurant - Point Loma Lighthouse - Elfin Forest - several others

could use more content, but informative

An informative book though the accounts of each haunting could have been a bit more in depth and perhaps more people's experiences and even photos could have been shared but the history, though brief is well researched and related in an interesting manner. There are more haunted places in San Diego County that could have covered for instance some hotels in the Gaslamp Quarter but perhaps the author (who is a member of the GRS) will put those in a second book.

Not Your Typical Ghost Story!

John Lamb's San Diego Specters will appeal to non-believers and ghost hunters alike. As he takes you on a tour of some of San Diego's most beautiful (and haunted) sites, he approaches each case with the healthy skepticism of a former policeman, and the enthusiasm of the true believer. John Lamb is expert at painting a mental picture of each haunted home, museum, cemetery, and restaurant. Whether or not he finds evidence of a ghostly presence, John Lamb is always respectful of the possibility, and he's quick to point out when there is a lack of genuine evidence to support a haunting. For those who believe in ghosts and ghostly phenomena, this book provides a wealth of information and many theories regarding when, where, how, and why ghosts appear. I, personally, am a believer and this book explained many of the things I have seen over the years. I was able to determine some were mundane occurrences, and others were probably real, honest-to-goodness ghosts. For those of you, who don't believe, this book still provides interesting historical information on places worth visiting in San Diego. Think of it as a "tour book" with a little extra!
