Great value for the money and practical learning material !

This is yet another fine book that I've added to my collection. I use it mainly as a reference but it is certainly an excellent teaching guide as well. This book is replete with informative lessons and practice exercises with answers for those who are new to the C ++ programming language. I would also highly recommend it for the intermediate level individuals who wish to augment their C++ programming skills. A thorough explanation precedes each exercise so the ease of learning progressively in as little time possible is greatly enhanced. The practice exercises are very helpful and practical. Expect to take more than 21 days to become proficient if you are just starting out in C++. Well done Jesse Liberty, Bradley Jones and everyone else involved in producing this book containing over 900 pages of excellent C++ training material!

Fantastic guide

With over 10 years experience in C++, I found this book to be an excellent review of the core language. I used the book to help my 15 year old get a solid start in C++ and in just over a month she is very comfortable with the language.

Very Good For Learning The Basics

Not sure about 21 days, but I started with C++ Primer Plus. I would now recommend starting with C++ In 21 Days and then moving to the forementioned.

Computer Science Student: Simply the Greatest C++ book ever

I make no bones about it: if you want to learn a programming language such as C++ you must be very dedicated and serious about doing so. As much as ANY book claims otherwise, this is not a simple task. However, Jesse Liberty's Teach Yourself C++ in 21 Days comes closest to making this long journey a great deal shorter and easier to understand. In programming, obviously, knowledge is power. Mr. Liberty takes no shortcuts in outlining the foundation of an excellent C++ programmer. There is a point where too much knowledge can overwhelm, and this book rarely, if ever, does this. Learning a computer language can be overwhelming in itself; a book such as this is supposed to provide clarity. Teach Yourself succeeds with flying colors covering mandatory basics such as operator overloading, templates, and polymorphism. All of this with colorful analogies that make programming an easier to understand experience. How a few reviewers came up with a one star rating for this book is baffling. I feel those persons to be looking for some kind of miracle to turn them into instant C++ authorities. I hope they can read this next paragraph and learn a few things. Is programming difficult? Yes. There is not another book that will make it any easier. This book is like a college course rolled up in 21 long chapters. I'm not talking about a college course you sit there and just try and pay attention to, I'm saying to take notes, participate, and re-read the material if you need to. This book has been a total inspiration and it's been with me through the thick and thin of the pages of code only to come out shining. Do NOT pass this up.

Excellent Intro Tutorial

Being skeptical at learning a programming language in 21 days I was a bit hesistant to buy this book. However after buying it I soon dropped my skepticism. With the author's in-depth explainations of key concepts, he not only goes over what each particular line of code does, but he also goes over some concepts to help you use your code better!Just by reading I got all my questions answered and found that programming was really very easy to learn once you got the right teacher =D. I'll definitely buy the rest of the C++ books that Jesse Liberty makes!
