When we are young, we learn words by connecting them to other words. Many of the church-related terminology were foreign to me because I didn't attend church frequently as a child. The word "salvation" in particular never made sense to me; it wasn't a word I had anything in common with. My father had a job at a salvage yard. That was sufficiently close. So, I reasoned that finding salvation involved claiming something that was flawed and screwed up before somehow selling it again for a modest profit. In the end, I was fairly close.
