Devastating, horrifying, yet beautiful all at the same time

This book horrified me, stopped my heart, and just made me stop breathing. The words I have to say for this book is inadequate. The beginning had me wanting to throw the book halfway across the room. It was so traumatic, especially working with animals. Then the dog fighting scenes just ugh!! I can't. I was horrified knowing how Jesmyn described is pretty freaking accurate. Just felt my insides churning and crumbling all at the same time! The author weaves a world of love, loyalty, and despair in the middle of mother nature's disaster. An amazing read. The only complaint I have is sometimes the wording and the pacing got a little much. But still a gorgeous book!! Devastating book so be prepared

Couldn't put it down!

This was a really interesting, great read which had me following closely from start to finish... Very well written and easy to get hooked.
