Poor writing and sentence structure. Ok plot.

The story is OK, but the writing is stilted and doesn’t flow smoothly. The author doesn’t use contractions and that’s just not how people speak in real life. I checked the front of the book to see who the publisher was because I would never purchase another book from anyone who would publish this. I found that the author himself published it and can’t believe he couldn’t have gotten some honest feedback if he had asked for it. I’ve been been reading for 65 years and read about 200 books a year so I feel like I know what I’m talking about.
