One of my Favorites!

I read this book back in the 80's and have read it again recently. It is absolutely one of my three all-time favorite books. The history, plot and characters are all very deep and you have to pay attention to grasp all that is going on. This book bounce between the 1940's and the 1980's. The main character is the son of a french resistance fighter who is murdered and he must find out if he was a traitor or not. THIS IS A MUST READ!

The Salamandra Glass

This is a great book. I first read it when it was new, and I never forgot it.I must make a couple of admissions. The first is I never got to finish this book. I was disappointed that I never got to finish and lost it half way through. The second confession is that I never forgot it, and I have looked forward to the time I find it in a used book store and can dig in again, from the beginning.I hope to find it's been re-published someday.

The French Resistance, WWII, and a Pin

Once again, Mykel does a very good job. This book alternates between the early 1980s and the 1940s in France. The story concerns a man whose French emigre father was killed in New Jersey in the early 1980s, and now he must determine if his father was a traitor to the French resistance, or if he was set up. After his father was killed, he was left with a pin of a salamander. So the son goes to France to find out the truth about his father. There are a lot of historical details in the text, and a map inside the front cover would have been nice for those of us who don't have a great grasp of French geography (like where Clermont Ferrand is). There are a lot of characters, and sometimes it's a bit difficult to keep track of exactly who is who. Mykel seems to have it against the French in general, but not the resitance. His book really dishes it out to the common Frenchman's attitudes during WWII, and Mykel does make the case that the French pretty much let the Germans take them over without providing much of a fight. Overall, I think this was a very interesting read, especially if you are interested in historical fiction.

Brilliant and Fast Paced!

This book is an excellent read! Mykel really keeps you on the edge of your seat!
