St. Martin de Porres was a humble and kind man who spent his life helping others, especially the sick and poor. Born in Peru in 1579, Martin faced challenges from the start. His father was Spanish, and his mother was African, which made life hard for him in a society that didn't treat everyone equally. But Martin didn't let this stop him from sharing God's love with everyone he met.

As a young man, Martin joined the Dominican Order, where he worked as a barber and nurse. He did simple jobs like cleaning, cooking, and caring for sick people, but he did them with a joyful heart.
