The new immigrants deal with prejudice, poverty, wars, cultural assimilation. each generation prospers further than the proceeding, and with a set of psychologically challenging experiences. How second-generation Sicilian immigrant meets a Vietnamese refugee with such different backgrounds and fall in love, cope with the stigma of blending races. The author details a timeline comparing events in Vietnam and the USA. The chapters are short stories of conflicts the characters experienced and their ways of coping.
