Saigon Haunting: A Novel of the Vietnam War

Saigon Haunting, A Novel of the Vietnam War, follows Amerasian Marisa Lien Bradshaw's journey to early 1990s Vietnam and her father Green Beret Mike Bradshaw's fight against the Viet Cong in war raging Vietnam.

The parallel storyline follows Marisa Bradshaw and David Riley through their post-war trip to Vietnam and her father Green Beret Mike Bradshaw's fight against the Viet Cong. Bradshaw encounters CIA Officer Sam Angult, both have different motivations for fighting the Communists. Both experience the horror and brutality of war.

In college, Marisa meets David, who lost his older brother in the war. After convincing by David, Marisa reluctantly travels with him to Vietnam on a student exchange program. Marisa and David soon realize their views of the war differ much like the American public. David falls for Marisa but struggles to win her over.

The story also relives, in factual dialogue, the fateful early years of President John F. Kennedy and his advisors who attempt to bring stability to the war effort, but only succeed in deepening America's commitment to South Vietnam.

Marisa searches for her Vietnamese relatives, while David yearns to visit the battlefield where his older brother Private Wayne Riley died.

Marisa and David's experience in Vietnam forces both to confront painful emotions about their lost relatives and discover the unexpected.

Marisa makes a solemn promise, but will she be able to keep it? Will David find the battlefield his brother Wayne perished on?

Join Special Forces soldier Mike Bradshaw, his daughter Marisa, and David to past and post-war Vietnam. Prepare yourself for War, Love, Culture. Next stop, VIETNAM.

Retired US Army officer Harry P. Dies Jr. presents his debut novel on the Vietnam War.
