Set against the rugged beauty of western Maine in the Rangeley Lakes Region, Saddleback Molly, The Skiing Moose tells the story of Molly who wanders the closed ski trails of a once vibrant mountain alone and downcast. Through Molly's eyes, readers experience the desolation of empty slopes and silent chairlifts, until subtle signs of new life begin to awaken the mountain. Molly watches from the forest as the ski area is slowly reborn. When the lifts finally begin to spin again, and skiers return with laughter and joy, Molly becomes curious about skiing herself. Drawn by the smiles of skiers, Molly adventures onto the slopes. At first she barrels wildly downhill out of control and fearful, until she becomes a strong and happy skier. As Molly learns to ski, her sadness lifts, and she finds joy on the slopes.
This tale celebrates being part of the ski community, the joy of skiing, and the enduring magic of winter.
