Sables "Sands" is a beautiful, vast imaginary world on uncharted territory in the heart of the ocean.

The world's coastlines are slowly disappearing beneath the rising levels of the ocean. The cat-men are fighting their last battle against the barbarians of the North, the head-suckers, who rob brains of their secrets and fantasies and then resell them, are searching for more merchandise.

Two lost children of Sables, Horn and Silena, sensing that their homeland is in danger, separately undertake a perilous journey to return to Sables Islands, a land unknown to the rest of the world, lost in the middle of the sea, where peace and harmony prevail and nature is revered and preserved. Its inhabitants, the No s are wise storytellers who converse with dolphins and know of the secret powers hidden in the depths of the sea.
After many hazardous adventures, Horn and Silena finally, miraculously, reach Sables only to find that the Storytellers are in grave peril. In order to survive, this wise and peace-loving population must develop a will to fight and make strategic alliances in order to triumph over the savage hoards that now surround them.

Sables is an absolutely enchanting universe, full of poetry and the sparkling blue magic of the ocean. This captivating tale on the mystery of universal harmony reels the reader in and keeps him hooked.

Hugo Verlomme has written numerous books relating to the ocean and has been translated into several languages. Mermere published in 1978 was considered a "cult" title and has sold 50 000 copies. Sables is a sequel to Mermere but can be read alone.
