Saariaho: Danse Des Flocons for String Orchestra Study Score

(Study Score). The two violin duets entitled Danse des Flocons were first written by the composer for her daughter Aliisa, who at the time was seven years old and an aspiring violinist. The titular flocons (flakes) refer both to snow - and Aliisa s middle name Neige - and topollen raining from the trees in the spring and summer. Danse des Flocons I & II are arranged here for string orchestra with violin or flute solo.
