This 2nd Edition adds bonus material at the end of the story and an introduction to prepare readers for a unique experience. The text and illustrations in this print version match the text and illustrations in the 2019 Kindle edition published on November 21, 2019.Inventing a new myth for young children is no small feat. It requires tenacity in reader and inventor alike. New cultures must be laid bare. Unique laws of physics apply. The stage must be set for extraordinary characters to move through dread, terror, and laughter. My aim in writing this novella was to give kids an appetite for String Theory, for possibilities of higher and lower dimensions interacting, and a thorough enjoyment of the gift of being human. The story begins with an unlikely hero thrown into an outrageous quest on the worst day of her life. Before we can understand Ruby's morbid predicament, we must have context, which, in this myth, requires a basic grasp of the dimensions of time, language and imagination; the pros and cons of genetic engineering; and how her community 7,000 light years from Earth and 32 generations from now, is all about us, here and now.The summit of my new myth is Zenya, the 11th dimension, a perfectly otherworldly, creative plane. This first adventure connects the dots, in a way that children can follow, to who we are, how and why we are here, what happens when we die, and really what's going on in our universe It is such an enormous puzzle, it took decades to craft the first installment. It has been my pleasure and honor to have heard from girls and boys who have read all twenty chapters that they loved it and were eager for the next adventure. A mom wrote to me that her 10-year-old daughter started reading it the minute she got home and finished reading it the next day...that is all I needed to hear to know that I have achieved my goal: Anyone with a 5th grade reading level can understand the complex nature of Ruby's reality and enjoy these adventures on Saardu and other planes.Several well educated adults proofread my final draft and approved. So, for the few older readers who told me there is too much technical information in the first chapter, I appreciate your suggestions, however, the previous feedback assures me that it is worth reading as is and it does pay off. And finally, my illustrator, for whom English is a challenging, second language, laughed and cried as he read each chapter and drew the sketches.
