Ryleigh is an eighteen year old girl camping out in the wilderness trying to pass her warrior training for her village until her small group is attacked by a wandering fairy. After surviving the attack, Ryleigh sees that she is Fae-touched and will either die from the disease or will turn into one of the creatures and be banished from her village forever. She must travel across the wilderness to a city called New Fillee, where she hopes to find a healer that can purge the illness before she succumbs to its affects.

Accompanying Ryleigh on her journey is her flying dog, Puffru, Colin, a young warrior who recently passed his training, the village elder's son, Eldon, and a lecherous, old witch doctor, Magraven, and her protector a large black bear named Charlie. As the group travels across the world, they encounter strange events and meet new friends and villains, and there's even a prophecy from the gods that Ryleigh must fulfill.
