Two deaths in just over a week or so. Was there a serial killer lurking out there?

One early, gray morning, Detective Zack Townes gets an anonymous phone call about a dead body in a muddy field. At the crime scene, Townes finds that the victim is clenching a matchbook in his hand from a club the victim frequented the night before.

With the evidence gathered at the scene, and, after a couple of interviews with those who are familiar with the deceased, Detective Townes believes the culprit is Billy Scearce-until Billy's body is found waterlogged in a lake. To add insult to injury, the detective receives more bad news when his boss, Chief Watts, assigns the rogue cop on the force to be his partner. The relationship between Detective Townes and Officer Casey is tenuous at best. And it only gets worse when another victim is found dead.
