This is not a happy little animal story. It is raw and unforgiving in the manner of Jack London and Daniel Pratt Mannix, but it remains beautiful. Stranger deals with the details of her character's lives, both human and animal, in a way that is so true, so vivid and compelling, you almost forget they are not people you know personally. Rusty is well worth the effort of finding it. For anyone who wants more than just `fluffy' animal stories.
