Does wisdom hide behind the throw of pebbles on a cloth? Can ancient symbols bear any relationship to the stresses and strains of modern living? Cassandra Eason says, "Yes". In this fascinating book,... This description may be from another edition of this product.
IMHO this is the best of the best of the rune books for those of us who are 21st century people. I have many rune books in the house and none of them got me to actually learn the runes, their meanings and how to cast till this one came along. Gone is all the nordic gobbledegook about Norse Gods, gone are all the veiled meanings and references to cattle and aurochs, gone are esoteric explanations of rune meanings and metaphysical claptrap. What Ms. Eason has done is take the essense of the rune and apply it to our daily lives. For example, the rune FEOH is no longer the arcane cattle, moveable wealth, claptrap but Ms. Eason goes right to heart of the rune - FEOH is PRICE, i.e. the price we pay for the choices we make in our lives. Another example is the rune UR. It is no longer the veiled reference to aurochs (huge ancient beasts) but rather what they mean i.e. the big obtacles in our lives, etc etc. Every single rune of the 29 rune anglo-saxon futhork (not a mispelling) is examined and reinterpreted to the modern view. Working with this book you should up and casting in no time. It is FABULOUS. And by the way, it's not just for women - its for anyone who want to learn how to apply the runes to their own lives. Looking forward to her new runes book out in April 20001 - I'm sure it too will be a winner
