A Tale of a Wandering Whale Who Should have Stayed Home

Now Listen carefully to this taleAbout a little humpback whale. He went exploring on his own.Should he have wandered off alone? This little rhyme is from the back cover of this wonderful little children's book and gives you a general idea what the story is about and how nice the verse is. Yes this story is told in rhyme and it is very well done and the illustrations by Jonathan Lambert are simply supberb. As many who read my reviews know, my husband and I live on a boat in the Caribbean for half the year and this year we had my nieces with us for a couple months. We saw whales off St. Lucia and when the girls spotted a calf, they were ecstatic, saying over and over, "Little Whale, Little Whale," referring to the wandering whale from this story. And there is a little moral here. You see when the little humpback runs away he has the time of his life for about a day, then it gets dark and he really misses his mother. Fortunately mommy whale finds him. It's a rough world out there and little children need to know early on not to stray. This beautiful book gets five stars from Captain Katie.
