Runaway Train

This isn't a love story with a fairy tale ending, but it is about true love. Mark and Krista seemed to be from two completely different worlds. He was a runaway who had spent most of his life train-hopping across North America, travelling from city to city before landing in St. John's, Newfoundland. Krista was a former churchgoer who tried to do everything right and failed spectacularly. Jaded by the cruelty of the past and present men in her life, she found herself working at her local downtown convenience store during the COVID pandemic. She anticipated many situations that could arise out of working at the store, but she never thought she'd fall in love with a streetwise misfit now dying of liver cirrhosis. They would push themselves to limits that neither thought they could.

This is the story of how two people, despite the dark cloud over their love, chose to fight to be together until the very end. Whether it was the outcome they prayed for or not, they brought back happiness, joy, and faith to each other amid a painful disease.
