As the others have said, I too read this story when I was young...7th grade. To this day, it is one of the best books I have ever read. I have alwasy remembered how much emotion I felt reading this story. I cried and laughed and cried some more. I have told so many people about this book, but have had a very hard time finding it until today. I am going to buy another copy for my daughter to read. I hope one day, she can share it with her child. This is a brilliant piece of literature for young and old alike. You won't be disapointed.

Like the others, I read this as a young girl. As an adult, I am still moved to tears by it. This was one of my very favorite books as a youth, and remains so to this day. The author influenced myself and my writing from a very young age. I truly recommend it to young readers, especially those struggling with the issues involved.

I read this when I must have been like 11-12... a gripping, tear-jerking story of a girl whose younger brother bears a fatal disease. Really gets into her mind and widened my consciousness as a youngster. Reall poignant. Why no paperback? I would love my little cousins to read this one! :(

I read this book when I was very young and it has stayed very close to my heart for many years. Even now at 21 I am desperately looking for a copy. This book was the first book to make me cry all those years ago and it made me realize the power of reading. Thank you Mary Pope Osborne for givong me the gift to love books. I search in anticipation for another book to move me so.
