Not quite what I was expecting

This book was what not quite what I was expecting. I thought it would be similar to the Slim Aaron books - alot of pictures with captions of a wide variety of royalty, no text. It was more like another Assouline book 'Queens Jewels' in style. The author picks a handful of specific royalty (from around Europe & Asia and of various time periods), writes about a specific holiday/vacation they took and includes photos and illustrations. Some were quite interesting - I never knew Queen Victoria vacationed outside of England. The author also writes about among others Empress Soraya of Iran, Tsar Nicholas II, Kaiser Willhem II, Sissi of Austria, and the Comtesse of Paris. An interesting addition to my library!
