My book is about Aden and his journey and constant battle in life, from being a child to adulthood, the story of how he struggled for years unaware of his dyslexia or his Scotopic Sensitivity Syndrome until he was fully assessed at the age of 40. The book seeks to inspire others to understand dyslexia and to help them face criticism and discrimination. Over the years, Aden had to overcome insurmountable obstacles in life. His determination to succeed has come from these very rejections and insults. Wanting to prove his intelligence to the world, he pushed harder and harder and the result was catastrophic. Aden has suffered setbacks his entire life. He failed exams and had fewer friends because he was not 'intelligent'; he was also bullied. He then faced discrimination at work because of his disabilities. Aden's parents never knew he was dyslexic, and therefore could not help him. He believes it is important for parents to help try and develop interests and hobbies where their dyslexic child can feel proud of his or her achievements. This book is also to help educate people worldwide to better understand what dyslexia is about and to prepare them so that they can see at first-hand how to tackle the problem.
