Rosita is born into extreme poverty in Mexico. At seven, she is sent by her mother to a nearby convent to beg for food. There, Sister Naomi falls in love with the little girl, and finds a way to help the family and helps to raise Rosita almost as her own. Unfortunately, Rosita's father, desperate for money, sends her to a border-town brothel to pay off medical bills. Rosita is totally unprepared for the Godless environment she finds herself in, but in order to maintain her identity, she learns to cope and creates a way to isolate her inner self. Then a random chance meeting with a young American, Rick Davis, provides her with choices and opportunities that are new to her. Through superhuman effort, she leaves her past behind to fulfill her human potential. However, her past may be a barrier to finding love with the man she can't forget.
