OK

This is not so much an autobiography as it is a collection of anecdotes. The book is kind of all over the place, much like Roseanne herself seems to be. But her voice comes through, and I enjoyed learning more about this interesting person.

not bad

I'm on page 175 of this 200 page book and I just got it yesterday. ITs a real quick read and if I had more time would have finished it in a few hours. I am a huge Roseanne fan and for 1 cent its worth the read, though parts of it are a little out of order and the tempo of the book jumps around. If half of what she claims happened in her life is true she definitely has the grounds to write a book! Her life story is surprising, interesting, and funny. She talks about her feelings on being a woman and her developing beliefs on feminism. Its a good book, especially for the price. Im not quite done with it yet, but she has no mentioned anything about her TV show yet, she is somewhere in the mid 80s discussing her stand-up comedy roots. We'll see where she ends it.

Roseanne Barr Pentland Arnold Thomas: Part 1

I made the mistake of reading Roseanne Barr's second book "My Lives" before reading this one. However, it made me stick to my belief that Roseanne Barr and Roseanne Arnold are two very different people. Roseanne Barr (who wrote this book) mentions nothing of what an awful marriage she had with "Roseanne" crewmember Bill Pentland until her second book, which discusses how wonderful her second husband Tom Arnold was. Ironically, she divorced Tom Arnold that same year for domestic violence. The Roseanne Barr that wrote "Roseanne: My Life as a Woman" basically talks about her journey from a Jewish girl in Salt Lake City to stand up comedy. She doesn't deeply go into her problems on the set of the 1988 hit sitcom "Roseanne", but this book still may be worth your time. Keep in mind that when this book was written, she had not yet begun to recall her so-called memories of being molested, and she was still part of the Barr family.Maybe it is a GOOD thing that I read "My Lives" first. She seemed like a much nicer person in "Roseanne: My Life as a Woman". Now when is 2004's Roseanne Barr going to release a book? Maybe her third one will show the world how she has mellowed with age.

Cheap Book not a letdown to me.

I don't know why this book is so cheap compared to other bios of stars. I loved this book. I actually have three copies. Call me obsessive. I love Roseanne what can I say? If you love Roseanne buy it. ~umpymama
