A Deeper Understanding

Rooted Against the Wind gave me, as a man, a deeper understanding of some of the struggles, challenges, obstacles that women face and overcome. From aging to rape, the author shares personal insights/learning in a way that challenges one to think beyond what we thought we knew. I was extremly moved and empowered by this book. Moved to challenge myself to think more openly and often about "women's issues" and challenged to love the women in my life in way that affirms thier womanhood and blackness.

A Timeless and Magnificent Classic

A courageous, witty, powerful and thought-provoking collection of essays that gives insight to many issues including race relations, the young black intellectual and the importance and value of Historical Black Colleges & Universities (HBCUs) in this country.
