This very light, very funny fantasy will appeal to most Terry Pratchett fans. Especially enjoyable for people who enjoy weak puns! It's the only book I know of which co-stars a carnivorous donkey. What more do you want?
Klatting hilarious ...

I could have given this title only 4 stars. The one star "loss" would be because of non-originality, or rather the bad luck that a certain Mr. Terry Pratchett was, as far as I know, the first to successfully embark on the humouristic fantasy novel trip.Fortunately, James Bibby has undoubtedly proven his originality *within* the genre. He effortlessly draws the reader inside his self-created hilarious world of fantasy, inhabited by wizards, warriors that fancy dreadlocks, ladykiller-dragons, carnivorous donkeys, *klatting* orcs that like nothing more than throwing parties and elves that get totally plastered just by sipping salt water. The book even includes several appendices where you can look up some very humouristic background information on the settings' flora & fauna.Normally, when I read or hear something funny, my reaction doesn't get beyond a smirk on my face. Sometimes people might even wonder if it wasn't a grin they saw (even if it's incredibly funny - hey guys, that's just the way I laugh). This one had me laughing out loud several times.I haven't read its successor -Ronan's Rescue- yet, but I can't wait to get my hands on it.If you like Terry Pratchett's Discworld series, you're also going to like this one. No doubt ...
