An elegant take on a classic story

I've read this play a million times, but no retelling of it has gripped me like this one has. I saw it in a Barnes and Noble when I was sixteen years old and didn't buy it, but have spent the last five years wishing that I had. It is an absolutely breathtaking take on Shakespeare's most famous work. The story is simplified for little ears, easier vernacular so that kids (and others : ) can understand Shakespeare. The pictures are astounding--the one on page 32 that shows the lovers "the morning after" makes me feel like crying just by looking at it. The expressions on the characters' faces and in their eyes tell just as much as the wording does. The combination of Hopkins' writing and D'Antibes' pictures are a perfect marriage to create this fantastic book. I adore this book. I give it five out of five stars, a much-deserved rating. I recommend it to Shakespeare bufffs and newbies alike, and definitely the audience it was intended for--children.
