This superb beautifully written account of Rome in Africa has acompanied me in various editions for almost 40 years. It still suprises me how poor the quality of the photos is. The writting itself deserves better.

Essential for a trip to Tunisia

Taking a trip to Tunisia and planning on seeing the extraordinarily well-preserved Roman ruins? This is the book. Like parts of Tunisia it can be a bit dry, but it has all the information you need and excellent photos (if seemingly dated).
