Rogue Angel

The test was a go: a revolutionary, pilot-less aircraft that can destroy unlimited targets and stay aloft for months at a time. Codenamed Guardian Angel, the aircraft displayed its deadly accuracy. Then disaster struck. From deep within the Pacific shelf, the earth unleashes a giant tsunami, wiping out the test platform for Angel and causing catastrophic damage on America's Pacific Coast. In the midst of a mammoth rescue and recovery operation, the U.S. Navy has an even more horrifying problem. Its murderous Angel is still in the air, out of human control, and primed to keep killing anything it can see... Major Tom Bryan and his Land Air Sea Emergency Rescue team train to do the impossible-anywhere on the planet. But nobody has trained for this. Bryan must fly a twin prototype through Angel's kill zone-and somehow get inside the rogue craft. But that's only the beginning. Because America's guardian has already started firing its high-tech weapons, and the world is on the verge of war...

One of Rovin's best

Detailed without being boring and most imaginative. It's obvious the author cares about this one. The rescue team members are very likable and quite human. I plan to read it again and hope the series continues. Both Rogue and Tempest are great reads.

Good read

Pretty decent story from an author with a track record for being imaginative. The beginning is a little slow and the ending was a little too quick and clean, but there were lots of tense "scenes" that made it worthwhile. Glad they didn't just make the Chinese military characters stereotypical... LTCMR Chan actually has some depth. Overall, a nice way to kill a few hours.

What a great read!

I used to read Tom Clancy novels around his Cardinal in the Kremlin book era, and I stopped reading his books when he began doing the joint book efforts. I was looking for a selection of new authors to read at the beach, so I picked up Rogue Angel. It was a wonderful book to read; I was totally engrossed in the story. I enjoyed that his characters weren't perfect in every way - it made them much more believable, and I appreciated the patriotism that both the military and civilian characters displayed. It's a great book, and now I'm looking forward to reading other Jeff Rovin books!
