Andrea Parker was a probation officer in Boone where she grew up in a family of lawyers and judges. Her husband grew up in New Path, a town for abused boys and their adult mentors. Once the boys gained a higher status, they were referred to as "rocks," and worked in secret to defend the most vulnerable members of the community, even if they had to break the law to do it. Andrea began receiving threatening letters, and, for the first time in her life, even her grandfather, Judge Richard Parker, was unable to protect her.
