Who Else Coulda Done it?

Grushkin has been a fantastic collector/writer involving the art of rock and roll and proven it in his other phenomenal books. But this new release combining the great loves of all Americans - rock and cars - is the best yet. How he managed to find, bring together and publish all of this wonderful material from the past is almost unbelievable: cars, posters, records and the connection between them. And thank goodness he did it before it was all lost! If you're a car freak and love R & B and Rock and Roll - you've got to get Rockin' Down the Highway!

Just Plain Makes You Smile Out Loud

I'd say what a great read, but this baby is more than that. You just pick it up and it makes you smile and chuckle in warm appreciation. The connection between cars and music always is kicking around in the back of our heads and somehow here they've caught that in visual and textual mediums. Pick this up and I swear to god it feels as if you are rockin'd down the highway with the AM radio cranked. You can browse through it, or read it cover to cover. And you can just put it on the coffee table if you want to and it still talks to you. I actually feel like sending a check to Grushkin and his co-conspirators just to keep them cookin' on similar projects. And I'm cheap. And I don't gush. If you've even heard of rock and roll and automobiles, buy this baby.

WOW... Finally, a book that does it right.

This book is AWESOME... Seriously, Not only is it a beautiful book but it more than lives up to expectations once you dig into the heart of it. The writing is fresh, relevant, and keeps your attention while the layout is enough to make you forget what else you needed to do for the rest of the day. My first thoughts where, " I'll just flip through it and see what I think..." well as you too will probably find, that doesn't work... it sucks you in and that's it... you are at it's mercy. The size of the book is pretty impressive too, it looks and feels like a piece of history. What really blew me away was the enormous amount of cool photos that I had never seen before... where did all of this stuff come from? There are so many candid photos of stars that it's as if this book reveals a hidden treasure of historical images that needed to be seen... and added to popular cultures view or many of these amazing people. The author has a Great point of view... his writing is easy, fun, informative and most of all... interesting. Over all, I would probably classify this book " It's about damn time someone got it right."

Must Own For ALL Rock and Roll and/or Car enthusiast!

Holding, reading and viewing this book is a true pleasure! "Rockin Down The Highway" brought back that feeling I had when I was 15, working on my first car, listening to the tape deck...waiting to get my license. Linking The Rock and Roll Roots together with the Punk and even the Hip Hop of today, really helps the reader to appreciate the history! Such amazing imagery, combined with captivating letters, articles, interviews and Rockers personal flashbacks, it really is the greatest book I've picked up in a long, long time. And, just in time for the Holidays! I'm using it for gifts and to keep the guest entertained!
