Almost every little kid can learn the two essential ideas behind calculus. Rate of change (ROC) is differential calculus. Reverse of last (ROL) is integral calculus. These ideas are not any more complicated than that, but almost all books on the subject are much more complicated. The twenty-six stories here introduce these ideas and a few others with twenty-six kids (one for each story) as the main characters. Mr. H is their teacher. He illustrates the ideas with fun inside and outside the classroom. Appropriate examples come from everyday life. Attempts at teaching STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) for kids by the major players do not present this same material even though Math is the foundation for all the other stuff. This book of stories changes that and is inclusive for all kids, all shapes, all sizes, all backgrounds, etc. There are thirteen boys and thirteen girls as the main characters. They come from all types of cultures and heritage around the world. The simple line-drawing illustrations on each page compliment the simplicity of the material and ideas. Each story is best presented mostly at bedtime when the reader, or the listener if very young, can absorb the big idea from the story just before going to sleep and so continue sleeping and dreaming about it from dusk to dawn. Each story, no more than one a day is best, follows the last story in sequence to build a subtle but complete understanding. Every kid should have an opportunity with this essential background to conquer the challenges continuing later in the area of STEM.
