To smoke a fine cigar is to commit to 1-2 hours of sitting, breathing deeply, and enjoying the Present Moment. While aficionados do seem to be accessing states of bliss, how much of this has to do with the tobacco? Often without realizing it, cigar smoking is a meditative practice. But, what if we decided to take it further? After all, we are already sitting and breathing deeply. We might as well milk it!
While deployed to Afghanistan as a medic, Jason Slajchert fell in love with two things: stogie culture and yogi culture. It was there that he first tried combining the two experiences, realizing that cigars can be a surprisingly helpful tool on the path toward enlightenment. After all, many people already burn candles and incense, smudge their sacred space with white sage and Palo Santo wood, as well as smoke certain plants for the purposes of cleansing auric fields, expanding consciousness, and accessing blissful states. Why should cigars be excluded from the path of spiritual progress?
This pursuit has turned into a lifelong passion to bridge these two worlds, helping cigar enthusiasts to not only become more mindful during a smoking session, but also to be more meditative long after that final third has burned out.
We at Kingfisher Leaf Culture believe that together, these two worlds combine to create the perfect marriage for those who are drawn to both leisure and Light, hedonism and Heaven, pleasure and Piety, enjoyment and Enlightenment.
