One of the Best Books I have Read on the Technology of Canals and Water Locks!
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 15 years ago
Although this book is written for the junior reader it is absolutely outstanding in regards to explaining the technology of canals and water locks. Edward Boyer describes the development of water locks, explaining virtually every aspect of their use in the canal era. The author also describes what it was like to live in that era and how the canals helped in the development of commerce and transportation. The most outstanding feature of the book is the illustrations! They are the very best that I have ever seen to describe how water locks were built and used! I highly recommend this book for anyone!
