Stephanie Paige has lived with Major Depressive Disorder since her teens. When she was diagnosed, it was challenging to live with depression in a society that highly stigmatized it during the late 1990s. After the birth of her daughter, she was hit by surprise with severe postpartum depression and anxiety. She knew she was at risk for these conditions but was hopeful she would escape them. As a new mother, anxiety entered her life and never left, like an obnoxious unwelcome neighbor. When her daughter was a care-free eight-year-old, Stephanie yearned for another child. She chose to foster a toddler but tragically wasn't able to keep him due to her mental health rapidly declining. The aftermath was a brutal struggle with PTSD, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, panic attacks, and a debilitating depression; she managed to survive one of the most tumultuous times in her life, ending in a triumphant rising from the ashes of trauma.
