Rise Up The Phoenix

When I first began reading this book I thought, this is not the type of book I usually read but, I might as well keep reading. Once I got into the book and realized a couple hours had flown by, I was hooked. I had no choice...a page turner until the end. It holds everything the back cover suggests, ..a nightmarish tale of corporate greed and political intrigue...and so much more. Rise Up Phoenix is now my type of book. Bravo to MJ Wood's first novel.

Not Just Another Novel

This was a breath of fresh air in an atmosphere of tired and lifeless novels. Wood takes "Phoenix" in a direction few authors would dare go - into the underbelly of corporate and political life all the while keeping focus on family and faithfulness. A couple twists around mid-way veer off into a direction the reader wouldn't suspect and yet the story comes around to closure that satisfies even the pickiest of readers. Backroom politics, corporate scandal, international intrigue, family strife, culture shock, drugs and a fair amount of lusty sex drive this story from beginning to end. The story moved rapidly and kept me on edge all the way. I loved it and can hardly wait for the next effort from this new writer.

This Story Tell It Like It Is

If you want a story about the ugly side of corporate life, this is it. Strong messages of ethics, integrity, fidelity, family run through this tale of payoffs, drugs, sex and the dingy side of business and politics in America. I really enjoyed it and, as a first novel, I think this is amazingly well-written. It's fast-paced, funny in spots, sad in others and really takes you on an emotional roller-coaster ride. For my money, this is a best-seller!
