The once-happy families, suffering from the terrors committed by North Korea, continue living in misery following the hijacking of Korean Airlines (KAL) in 1969. The would-be couple, Taeho (male) and Meeyon (female), face the hardship that Meeyon's father, the captain of the hijacked plane, became a captive of North Korea. Meeyon's family and friends appeal to all international organizations, including the United Nations, and hold nationwide demonstrations in attempts to free him. North Korea releases all the hostages, except for Meeyon's father, whom they never see again. Ten years pass, and both Taeho and Meeyon are seen leading separate, happy lives with their own children. Unbeknownst to them, their children meet and play together on several occasions. One day, Taeho gets involved in a pro-North Korean forces' scheme with his friends. Consequently, one of his friends is murdered by a North Korean spy. Taeho holds a secret, which the pro-North Koreans try to get at by making threats and fabricating lies against him. They finally succeed in ousting Taeho from his university where he is employed as a professor and a medical doctor. In the end, through their children, Taeho and Meeyon finally meet each other again at the airport. Taeho and his family leave South Korea for Germany with a promise to return one day as a leading specialist. Now, their children have grown up.
