Ripples In Paradise is set in the beautiful Fiji Islands. Priya, the main character describes her experience of the first military Coup of 1987, as a teenager. She sees her community split with many of her loved ones, leaving the country. She is heart broken. The book also gives an insight in to the lives of The Girmitiya Indians who were brought as indentured labourers and had stayed on. She is a descendent and relives their story through other characters in the book. Experiencing the Coup makes her see things differently, as she sees circumstances changing. She experiences fear post coup when everyday routine and life as she knew it stops. Even though her spirit is dampened by the coup and how it has affected everyone she meets, her outlook about her country remains beautiful. It is indeed an inspiring read
