On Sept. 30, 1962, when a riot occurred at the University of Mississippi protesting the admission of the first African American student, James Meredith, Meek, 22, a staff photographer for the university, stayed up all night and took over 500 photos including exclusive pictures of Meredith in the classroom the next day. Meek is the only photographer with a full body of work of the 1962 riot at the University of Mississippi.
