Mickey sits in a coffee shop working on his computer. In walks Kim, clearly pained by something that she does not easily reveal but there is an obvious pain between them. She insists on him taking back "the ring". Mickey protests, hoping to save the relationship, hoping to have things restored between them. Kim presses him with "tell me it didn't happen" and he is unable to deny his infidelity. While infidelity is never spoken of directly, it is clearly implied. Though Mickey proclaims that he loves Kim, she reminds him that love is not enough. In the end, he takes the engagement ring, symbolizing an acceptance of what he broke between them. He is left alone as Kim exits. The scene poignantly portrays the deep pain that results from a lack of faithfulness in a relationship.
