a must read for prospective parents

I read this book 32 years ago, so my comments won't be as apropos as if it were recently. But this book gave me more confidence with which to stick up for my babies when (both sets) in-laws wanted me to "ferberize" them, which I believe is not only cruel, but counter productive. I wouldn't have done that to my sons even without having read this book, but Margaret Ribble's research at least made me better able to completely ignore harmful advice.
