A good overview on Christian doctrine and the cults
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 21 years ago
Matt's ministry, www.carm.org, is excellent, and so is this book. Matt is very clear in presenting basic details on basic biblical truths, the cults, and how to witness. You might know very little about a particular group and understand the basics after reading through the section on it. I recommend Matt and his ministry.
What Christians Should Know When Confronted
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 22 years ago
As much as I took time to learn about different beliefs I always thought I would be able to witness to them about the God of Christianity. It is very hard I found but this book has truly helped me see just how to go about it. This book touches so many of todays well known "religions". I am thankful for Matt Slick's book, because it will help all Christians reach those involved in a religion and get them into a relationship with the one true God.Thank you again Matt for all your hard and dedicated work.

_Right Answers for Wrong Beliefs_ begins with over 50 pages explaining the Christian hope, what we believe, and why. Before Christians can hope to help anyone untangle themselves from cults, we must know what we believe and why. Matt Slick teaches how and why God relates to man, and we to Him. If a reader never went beyond the first 56 pages, his or her money would be well spent because of Matt's tight arguments and proofs from Scripture. He defines words and doctrines, and firmly anchors his teaching with where Scriptures define the words and the doctrines. Ignorance of these doctrines is why many of us are weak and ineffective ambassadors for Christ! In the next 200 pages, Matt analyses how the cults deviate from Biblical truth, and he backs up his analyses, with quotes and references from documents of the cults. He introduces us to well-know cults such as Mormonism, Jehovah's Witnesses Christian Scientists, and Christadelphians. At the end of each, Matt poses questions, often drawn from their own material, that we can ask to open a discussion, and keep it going. His analysis of the New Age Movement is timely given its infiltration into almost every sector of American life, from boardrooms to classrooms! In less than 20 pages, Matt sweeps through the Unification church, the Christian Identity Movement, Eckankar, The Farm, The International Church of Christ, Swedenborgianism, Theosophy, Unity School of Christianity, and the Way International. He concludes with concrete helps for those who have a heart for those souls snared by false teaching, that point the reader squarely back to the Lord Jesus Christ, who sets free all who turn to Him. He addresses the questions and objections that too often tie Christians? tongues so we are not giving an account of the hope that is in us. One of the best parts was Matt's exhortation and help so Christians can memorize Scripture and increase their usefulness and fruitfulness. The guide is user-friendly, and well-written, with a bibliography, index, and simple reference notes section that take the fear our of standing in love against the whelming tide of cults.
