Riding Wild Horses: Haiku Poems on Living with Passion and Mindful Heart

Don Iannone is the author of eleven books of poetry, known for their lyrical depth and mindful spirit. First published in 2018, Riding Wild Horses quickly found an appreciative audience, inspiring Don to release this expanded second edition. The collection, composed of Haiku poems, invites readers to live with passionate, mindful-heartedness, embracing life in its fullest form.

The book's evocative title was drawn from a stanza in one of Don's earlier poems, We Wait Too Long: "We wait too long to do what's most important; things stirring our hearts and riding wild horses through our souls." In this spirit, the wild horse emerges as a powerful symbol of passion, freedom, and untamed spirit-reminding us to break free from the numbing grip of autopilot living and to experience life with vibrancy and intention. The poems call us to ride our own wild horses, seizing the moments that matter most.

Don's professional journey spans thirty-five years in economic development and public policy. Following his retirement in 2016, he and his wife, Mary, dedicated seven years to working as complementary medicine therapists at the Cleveland Clinic Cancer Center, providing compassionate care to cancer patients and their families. A cancer survivor himself, Don lives by the very spirit his poetry champions-riding the wild horses of poetry, writing, photography, painting, and teaching through every season of life.

Since 2020, Don has served as a business faculty member at Transcontinental University, a European Union-based institution with a campus in Columbus, Ohio. In addition to his poetry, he has authored five nonfiction books and ten photographic essays. He holds doctorates in Divinity and Philosophy. Don and Mary make their home near the charming village of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, where the beauty of nature continues to inspire their work and life.
