A wonderful adventure and love story.

I first heard of this novel when it was read by Dick Estell on his NPR radio program "Radio Reader" and simply had to read it in print myself. At first I was overwhelmed by the six hundred pages but soon got lost in this fascinating story and found it difficult to put down. It's a wonderful story of adventure in the early years of aviation. It is also a tender love story. Mr. DeBurgh not only guides us through history but he entertains us along the journey through a time few of us remember. He incidently gives us a basic lesson in flying as well. A truly enjoyable and fascinating book.

An exciting new book

Riders of the Wind is an exciting new book by Robert F. DeBurgh that portrays the lifestyles, fashions and attitudes of the prohibition and depression era. The story moves at a rapid pace and carries the reader through adventure and romance set against the background of the pioneering years of aviation. This book is a must for the aviation history buff, the retro enthusiast or the reader simply interested in life in the USA during the 1920s and 1930s. I absolutely loved it.

An airman's opinion of Riders of the Wind.

Riders of the Wind is a fascinating story of the 1920s and 1930s brought to life by DeBurgh's masterful hand. Adventure, romance, humor,it's all there. Written in the language of the times, Riders of the wind moves at a pace that glues the reader to the page. Once the reader picks it up, it is difficult to put down. It's a book that will make you laugh and make you cry. I would give it the highest rating.
